Dr Athanasios Charalampopoulos MD

I am a Cardiologist with a special interest in Pulmonary Hypertension (PH).

I am currently working as a Consultant in the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield, UK, which is one of the 7 designated, tertiary, referral centres for adults with PH in the UK. In our unit, we receive more than 800 new PH referrals per year from a large geographical area and we follow-up nearly 1,500 patients with the whole range of PH types (most of them on PAH targeted therapies).

My research/clinical interests within the PH spectrum focus on echocardiography and cardiopulmonary exercise testing, as well as cardiovascular risk factors and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.

I also take an active role in the Heart Failure Service, based at the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, looking after patients with all types of heart failure (clinics/ward rounds).
