Weight Support Intervention

The Sheffield CF Dietetic team provide a specialist regional service and we were fortunate to receive a grant from the Sheffield Hospitals Charity. This grant allowed us to use our expertise to develop an innovative behavioural weight support intervention. The behavioural intervention is based around an online food diary and weight tracker. This enabled our patients to keep track of their own calorie intake and weight and empowered them to achieve their goals around target weight. Dietetic support was provided through home visits, telephone calls and email contact.

Seventeen patients took part in the research and some of those also contributed to feedback sessions at the end of the study period. Many useful suggestions were made on how we could further improve the study design. This has led us to consider the next stage which will involve the development of an application for smart phones and tablets. We are looking forward to this next exciting change.

Thank you to Sheffield Hospitals Charity for giving us this opportunity and to our fantastic patients for being such willing participants in this research.
