Cystic Fibrosis

Sheffield Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre started functioning as a specialist regional centre in 1999 and is a regionally and nationally CF Trust accredited unit.

We treat patients over the age of 16 years, who live in Sheffield, and also, as far as Grimsby, Mablethorpe, Alfreton, Buxton, Lincoln and Wakefield. We have a close liaison with the Sheffield Children's Hospital Paediatric Cystic Fibrosis Centre from whom we receive patients when they reach 16 years of age. We have about 200 patients being treated in our unit and are growing at the rate of about 10 patients per year.

Our 12 bedded Cystic Fibrosis In-Patient unit offers state of the art facilities with single themed rooms all en-suite, with TV, DVD, computer, games console, tea and coffee making facilities. Visiting time onto the unit is from 11am until 9pm daily.

The unit is based on the 3rd floor of the Biomedical Sciences Unit at the Northern General Hospital.
