PH Biobank
Sheffield is home to the ASPIRE Registry (see publication links ERJ, Thorax). This is one of the largest pulmonary hypertension registries in the world and includes all forms of pulmonary hypertension. It includes treatment naïve patients at diagnosis who have undergone multimodality imaging (including cardiopulmonary MRI) and detailed phenotyping, providing insights into all forms of pulmonary hypertension. The unit currently receives over 800 referrals with suspected pulmonary hypertension per year.
This Registry is supported by the Sheffield PH Biobank, which also includes all forms of pulmonary hypertension, with sampling at diagnosis and follow up visits. Urine, plasma and serum are saved at each visit and this provides a unique opportunity to link “omics” with clinical and imaging data across the spectrum of pulmonary vascular disease. Access to biobank samples can be requested via Allan Lawrie, contact: a.lawrie@sheffield.ac.uk
